In September and October of 2021, the club lost two members to illness; Allen Winterer and Duane Hamel. Both loved their vintage automobiles; Al and his 1932 Oldsmobile and Duane's 1931 Five Window Chevy. They loved showing off their cars and attended many car shows with the Cruisin' A's. Their efforts to restore their cars were an inspiration to us all and they will be missed. May they rest in peace.
On May 13, 2020, we lost a valuable and knowledgeable friend and member, Bob Sterner. He was 92 years young. As we were under safe-distancing protocols only a few members were allowed a very short time at the visitation held at the Miller Jones Mortuary in Hemet. A few of our members brought their Model A’s and Model T’s to pay tribute for Bob’s love of the antique automobiles. An Army Veteran, Bob was laid to rest at the Riverside National Cemetery a few days before Memorial Day.
He had an immense knowledge of our often (bleeped, family site) antique cars and his generosity in providing the basic "how to fix" advice to keep them running. Bob is a long-time Cruisin A's Club member and one of the first members to shake our hand and welcome us. He had a witty sense of humor and was always quick to present you with a funny riddle. His many friends will miss him greatly.
While traveling through Michigan the wife and I stopped at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. The Gilmore has a large Ford Model A display. It also has many other displays of old classic cars and we highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.
