In the spring of 1992, Troy Farmer and Ed Bang were hoping to form a Model A Club in Hemet and together they contacted everyone they knew or saw driving a Model A in and around our local area. As members of the Valley Cruisers, they had an ideal resource to gather this information during the car club’s regular “Cruise Nights” at a local restaurant called the Boll Weevil in Hemet.
Enlisting Lori and Joe Perez it wasn’t long before they had a nice list of interested Model A owners. A date was set for May 21, 1992 at O’Sullivan’s Restaurant, where the current IHOP is today. The invitational calls were made to the owners and lo and behold, 26 people came out to the first official meeting! It was agreed by the group that there was enough interest to form a new Model A Club. The next meeting was set for June at the Valley Wide Recreational Park under the trees.
The June meeting was to hold an election of officers and suggestions were sought for an official name for the newly formed club. After a vote was taken, the winning name suggested by Alice Vose was “Cruisin A’s.” The election of our first officer’s seems like a family affair:

Tour Director: Joe Perez
The next meeting was held by Alice and Ray Vose as a Pot Luck and BBQ in July. The President requested and received an application for a Charter from the Model A Ford Club of America, which was signed by 15 members. The MAFCA Charter was received in September of 1992. Our founders were ambitious in the beginning, writing by-laws, searching for a meeting place; selecting the 3rd Tuesday of each month for our business meetings; enthusiastically supporting the love of our Model A through outings and tours and joining in on community activities. We still have Charter Members, from the founding of the club, active in the club's activities.
